The Tradeoff

(Mikasa wasn't too thrilled about the idea of wondertrading. Even standard trading managed to avert her interest and at least that one can be negotiated beforehand. At least you might see the other trainer's face. This was no better than a gamble, something that she supposed others found appealing. If other trainers are so willing to trade away their beloved Pokemon, Pokemon they've raised, trained and bonded with, with someone they've never met and may never meet again, then that's their choice.
And after a firm convincing, that begrudging decision is now Mikasa's. She's used to doing things she doesn't want to do, as long as one of her friends does it, too.
The peer pressure doesn't stop her lips from pursing after she bids her Emolga farewell and submits him for the trade. The wait for the exchanged Pokemon comes much faster than watching Emolga's pokeball digitize and get transported somewhere across the world. He's a strong Pokemon; she believes he'll be fine, wherever he goes. And the new one that'll take his place...they'll need someone to look after them. They're probably hoping for a good trainer to give them a home, just as Mikasa hopes someone will do the same for Emolga.
There's a small sigh of acceptance as the new pokeball appears in the machine, the trade complete. She holds the ball in her hand, staring. She hadn't given much thought towards what she could get in return and didn't want anything in particular. She wanted to not go through with this trade in the first place All the same, she presses the release on the ball, ready to see what exactly her Emolga has brought her in his stead.)
