What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

(Madoka Kaname...today's a very special day for this very special girl. Why? Well it's her birthday, of course, and her family is eager to celebrate! Given that they're still living abroad in the US as opposed to Mitakihara City, they're a bit out of their element here, but lucky for them, a local establishment happens to be very popular with the kids. Madoka doesn't recall seeing a place like this Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria back home, but it sounded fun and looked it, too! Plus they have animatronics, which is pretty neat in its own right.

With that decided, the birthday girl and her family make the trip over to this mysterious, but enticing pizza place, the pink-haired girl practically leading the family inside...)

Come on up!

[Freddy jerkily gestures with a hand as the two make their way up to the stage. The rest of the band keeps on in their usual idle movements, pretending to tune their instruments or the like...until Madoka and the ~~_purple~~ employee arrive onstage. All three animatronics go still, staring silently over the girl's head at the adult.

They stare.]

_k-k-k-k-kid.

[The employee takes this as her cue to back offstage again. Freddy returns his attentions to the birthday girl once she's gone; he is big up close, but he bends down to greet her.]

And w-what's your name?

[Meanwhile, the other two animatronics track the employee's movements until she's left the room.]

(Yeah, even she can feel the tension between the animatronics and the employee behind her. She...isn't really sure what to make of it, really. Her eyes dart between the two before focusing back on Freddy, returning that smile to her face. Maybe she's imagining that. Or maybe she's a little intimidated by Freddy. He's...quite a big animatronic, but at least he's friendly! And friendliness always trumps appearances.)

I'm Madoka!

N-nice to meet you, Madoka! I'm Freddy Fazbear!

[He holds up a hand - for a high-five, not a handshake. His paws are too big ~~and probably good at crushing~~ for that. Also, apparently these animatronics can understand well enough to learn names? They must be more advanced than they look.]

Don't think we've s-s-seen you here before! These are my good friends B-bonnie and Chica! And we're gonna play you a special b-birthday song!

(Wow, Freddy already learned her name! That's impressive. She can only imagine how much money went into making him and the other bots, but it must've been a lot, for the gang to keep themselves together like this. Madoka happily high fives the animatronic, clasping her hands together in excitement as Freddy and the others prepare the song for her.)

I can't wait to hear it. It's my first time here!

What an ex-extra special day!

[Freddy straightens, looks to the others, and then they start playing...Happy Birthday. The copyrighted one that they probably shouldn't have been programmed with in the first place. ~~Fuck the police.~~

At the end of the song, there's a bit of a commotion from backstage. What's this? Foxy the Pirate running in with a cake?]

Foxy! Wh-what -

[Wait, are the lights in this room flickering? The animatronics pause as the people in the room start to murmur.]

(Let the song be as copyrighted as the law mandates; Madoka loves it all the same. These are adorable and friendly animatronics singing to her, after all. It doesn't get any more special than that!

Well, maybe except for the pirate fox running in with a cake in hand. Is that for her? She didn't know there was a fourth robot here! That's awesome! What's not awesome, though? The flickering lights buzzing and wavering over everyone's heads. The girl's bright smile fades in favor of concern.)

Freddy? Is something wrong? Is Foxy your friend, too?

[There's another moment of silence before Foxy picks up the routine again.]

Yaaaar, I be bringin' this cake for the birthday -

[He cocks his head and looks backstage. The others look as well - but the only thing there is a security guard in a purple Freddy's uniform. Seems normal.

The lights flicker again, and then go out altogether.]

It's okay. [Freddy moves closer to her.] S-s-stay close, kids.

(Foxy's gesture is...sincerely sweet. If nothing else, it offers Madoka a brief reprieve from the tension of the flickering lights.

That is before they cut out entirely, of course. Then things aren't quite as happy and wonderful. The birthday takes a step back to lean against Freddy, looking for a hand to hold or maybe an arm. Something to hold to help her feel protected.)

Freddy? I'm scared...

(As is Madoka's family, who stay close together, but call out for their daughter. The darkness keeps them from her, but she responds in kind.)

I'm with Freddy! Freddy's keeping me safe...right?

[Freddy puts an arm around her, his movements careful and gentle for something quite so large.]

It's oka-a-a-a-ay.

[There is a mechanical shriek, quite close. One of the other animatronics? Freddy holds Madoka closer.]

i don't like the dark either

[Whispers a voice that sounds like a young girl, standing quite close indeed.]

(Poor Madoka's trying to keep herself calm, but that metallic shriek makes her shiver down to her core as she balls her hands together. What...what was that? It's pretty damn terrifying, honestly. Did someone get hurt? She hoped that wasn't the case...

She freezes up at the young girl's voice, sharply inhaling and holding her breath. Where...did that come from? She was the only kid on stage, last she saw. Maybe one of them climbed up after the lights went out? Very possible, but Madoka can't be sure. It surprised her, either way.)

Who...who's there...?

[There's no response from the girl, if indeed there was a girl onstage at all. Freddy shifts, though, and twin red lights flicker from his eyes, peering around. They aren't quite bright enough to illuminate much of their surroundings, but after a moment they turn down towards Madoka.]

T-this way. [He's certainly not going to push or drag her, but the bear robot starts moving rather insistently towards the stairs back down. Are the animatronics even supposed to leave the stage? Because he totally is~]

(There's quite a lot she doesn't know about these animatronics or the technology behind them, but if they can learn a child's name that quickly and be this protective when something goes wrong, who's to say they can't walk around? Foxy did bring her a cake, after all. She walks with the bear, taking slow, cautious steps, but ultimately walking with him. She doesn't know where he's taking her, but it's to somewhere safe, right?)

Will...will your friends be okay?

Y-yes.

[Add having apparent conversations about non-pre-programmed events to the list. There's some more crashing from the stage area, and a quite humanoid scream.]

I don't know! [Chimes the voice of that girl again. She sounds farther away, and rather distressed.]

I-I hope they're alright...

(Madoka tenses once again at the scream. Her only comfort right now is the animatronic bear protectively holding her, but that hand grips one of his fingers, eventually letting go as she calms herself down.)

Freddy? Where are we going?

Away.

[The bear lumbers towards a door quite clearly meant for employees only and opens it, beckoning her inside. It goes towards the kitchens, which are strangely quiet - but then, they couldn't be doing much cooking anyway with all the power out. Is it actually going to be safe back here?]

(The safest thing to do would probably be getting the hell up out of here with her family, but she's already here and Freddy's been nothing but supportive this whole time. She hoped they'd be fine.

It's quite dark, but thankfully, Madoka's eyes are adjusting enough to not trip over anything. She cautiously enters the kitchen, surprised that there's no one back here. Maybe they cleared out once the power died?)

I hope everyone else is alright; it's pretty scary, when the power goes out...
